Nevada Hit & Run Motorcycle Accidents

In the event of an accident, all parties involved are required by law to stop and exchange information with one another. Unfortunately, there are times when a driver does not stop, resulting in a “hit and run” accident.

A driver that does not stop after an accident may do so for a variety of reasons, including not having a valid driver’s license, not carrying valid insurance, or even driving under the influence. Whatever the excuse, it is against the law to leave the scene of an accident.

If you have been the victim of a hit and run accident, there are a few things that you must remember.

  1. Call 911 immediately.
  2. Provide the police with as much information as you can about the other driver. Make, model, color of car, physical description of the driver if you are able to see them, and most importantly, the direction they are traveling.
  3. If at all possible, get the license plate number of the vehicle.
  4. Talk with as many witnesses as you can. Make sure you document their names, addresses, and telephone numbers, and ask them to wait for the police to arrive to take an accident report.
  5. Collect any evidence or debris from the accident scene. Wreckage such as broken headlights may be used to identify the car of the hit and run driver.
  6. Never chase the hit and run driver! An altercation with the "suspect" may result in far more serious problems.
